ArgoGlobal announces new appointment

Lloyd’s insurer and Argo Group member ArgoGlobal announced the appointment of Steve O’Gorman as Head of Marine.

Effective from today, the role will have O’ Gorman – who has more than three decades of marine insurance experience – reporting to underwriting director Bruno Ritchie. Former head of marine Philip Thorpe-Apps will take on an expanded position as Global Head of Marine and Energy. 

Ritchie said: “Philip has been instrumental in building our marine account. As he takes on a more strategic role articulating the vision for our marine and energy offering globally, finding a successor to build on his accomplishments was a challenge.”

He added: ”I am certain Steve has the managerial, commercial and underwriting acumen to maintain and accelerate the growth trajectory of our marine proposition. He brings an exceptional track record to ArgoGlobal and with his appointment we are now well placed to ensure our marine business continues to go from strength to strength despite the difficult market conditions.”
