Tim Mardon joins Aspen from SiriusPoint, where he was global head of property reinsurance.
Aspen Insurance has appointed Tim Mardon as global head of property catastrophe reinsurance, effective November 14.
He will also become chief underwriting officer (CUO) of Aspen Bermuda and a member of Aspen Re’s leadership team.
Mardon joins Aspen from SiriusPoint, where he was global head of property reinsurance.
He previously held senior positions at Chubb Tempest Re and Torus Re in Bermuda.
Based in Bermuda, he will report to John Welch, CUO for reinsurance.
Mardon will head Aspen’s Bermuda reinsurance team, and manage global property catastrophe reinsurance portfolio, overseeing its business strategy and ensuring underwriting consistency.
Philip Hough maintains responsibility for Aspen’s other property business, in addition to leading the EMEA and Latin American businesses from Zurich.
“We are delighted to welcome Tim Mardon to Aspen Re,” said John Welch, Aspen’s reinsurance CUO.
“Tim is an industry veteran, whose deep sector knowledge and impressive track record in property catastrophe make him well-placed to lead our global offering. I look forward to the insights he will bring as we continue to drive forward our ambitious agenda for reinsurance,” he said.
Mardon added: “I am thrilled to be joining Aspen at such an exciting time for the business, both here in Bermuda and globally. I look forward to helping Aspen advance its impressive trajectory while delivering industry-leading products and services for clients.”
