The re/insurer’s new London market chief underwriter joins from Liberty Mutual, where he was global leader for energy and transition risk, and a former CUO of Liberty Specialty Markets.
AXA XL has announced that Mike Gosselin has been appointed as its new chief underwriting officer (CUO) for the UK & Lloyd’s, effective April 2024, subject to regulatory approval.
Gosselin will be responsible for underwriting strategy, portfolio performance and driving profitability for AXA XL in the UK across the firm’s Lloyd’s and London company market platforms.
“I am delighted that Mike will be joining my leadership team at an exciting point in our evolution,” said Gosselin’s appointment, Sean McGovern, UK & Lloyd’s CEO, AXA XL.
Gosselin was previously global Leader for energy and transition risk at Liberty Global Risk Solutions,
Before that, he spent 20 years at Liberty Speciality Markets, where he held several positions, including CUO, responsible for multiple lines of business.
“He brings extensive underwriting experience which will be invaluable as we progress our growth strategy across our London market business and across our multinational and mid-market segments,” he added.
McGovern was one of two new members elected to the Lloyd’s Council, it was announced in October, joining as a “corporate external” member of the body.
