Expansion of technology role following AI work and recently launched data labs.
Aspen Insurance has announced Tony Bishop’s appointment as the insurer’s chief data and analytics officer, effective immediately.
The role is an expansion of his existing responsibilities, since he joined Aspen in 2022 as head of data and analytics.
In his expanded role, Bishop will take on responsibility for recently launched data labs and architecture.
He reports to Rob Houghton, Aspen’s group chief operating officer.
Under his leadership, Aspen said it has made strong progress in its data and artificial intelligence (AI) strategy, including an industry-first partnership with Microsoft to pilot Purview and the launch of Aspen data labs.
Houghton said: “Tony’s appointment comes at an exciting time for Aspen. Under Data Labs, we will be able to make the most of the power of data and AI to improve our customer experience, optimise our operations, and drive innovation across our business.
“Tony has the skills, experience, and vision to take our architecture, data, and AI capabilities to the next level, and I look forward to working with him and his team to achieve our goals.”
Bishop added: “Since joining Aspen it has been a pleasure to meet and work with such talented and motivated individuals. The commitment and determination from all levels to embrace data and find ways to improve the way we do business has been inspiring.
“With everyone pulling in the same direction, it enables us to execute quickly and take advantage of new technology. There are many more opportunities for us to exploit data and AI across our business, so I am honoured and excited to have this opportunity to support our users through the next phase of our data journey.”
