Munich Re has appointed Hanh Nguyen as its new head of treaty property and casualty (P&C) underwriting for Southeast Asia and India.

She replaces Joachim Zagrosek, effective 1 March 2025, who has been appointed head of P&C treaty underwriting for Germany, based in Munich.

Hanh (pictured) has 19 years of reinsurance industry experience in multiple markets throughout Asia.

She joined Munich Re as regional property treaty manager within the reinsurance firm’s Southeast Asian and Japan regional underwriting team.

She has been working as deputy head of treaty P&C underwriting for India and Southeast Asia since July last year.

“It is a great privilege to take on the responsibility for Munich Re’s treaty P&C underwriting in South-East Asia and India,” Hanh said.

“Underwriting discipline will remain crucial for the markets. Events such as Hurricane Yagi remind us of how exposed the region is to natural disasters.

“We strive to increase insurance penetration in the region by fostering risk mitigation measures, working with governments and international institutions and by bringing innovative solutions to the markets,” she added.
